Participation Survey

The Participation Survey conducted by the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) took place from July 1st to October 3rd, 2016.

The primary focus of the Participation Survey was to determine the extent to which the population of Curaçao engages in sports and cultural activities. Additionally, the survey explored the relationship between the population’s level of participation and their demographic, social, and economic characteristics.

The survey examined three forms of participation:

Active participation: Involvement in the practice and execution of sports activities as an amateur or involvement in cultural activities such as playing in a band as an amateur.

Passive participation: Engagement as a spectator, such as watching or following sports events or cultural events like dancing at a dance party.

Supportive participation: Contributing to the sports or cultural sectors by providing money or time.
