2011 Census

On March 26, 2011, at 0:00 hours, the Fifth Population and Housing Census commenced in Curaçao, a decade after the previous census. In 2001, the census encompassed the Netherlands Antilles, which later dissolved into the countries of Curaçao and St. Maarten, alongside the special overseas municipal bodies of the Netherlands: Bonaire, St. Eustatius, and Saba, on October 10, 2010.

Over the subsequent nine days, approximately 2,100 interviewers traversed the 444 km2 expanse of Curaçao to reach every individual residing in households across the island. Each person underwent questioning on various topics, including demographic characteristics, health, education, labor, and income, among others. Additionally, a separate household form was completed for each household, detailing specific characteristics of their living arrangements.

All information gathered during this brief period underwent scanning, coding, verification, editing, and entry into a comprehensive database. This resulting database holds a vast trove of data, serving as a crucial resource for constructing numerous tables on population and housing characteristics, as well as conducting analyses on the various topics covered in the questionnaires.
