Summary

Between 2015 and 2019, the Central Bureau of Statistics (CBS) conducted two sub-studies in the context of a comprehensive survey of the housing market, namely a housing needs survey and a housing census. These studies provided information on essential characteristics of the demand side and the supply side of the housing market. This research uses the knowledge gained from these studies to round it all off with information about another fundamental aspect of the housing market, namely whether it contains a shortage or a surplus of housing.

This publication is the last partial research that has been carried out in the context of this research series. Hopefully, the results of these studies will provide sufficient starting points for drawing up a policy to steer the housing market and for further knowledge development in the field of public housing.
