Results Labour Force Survey 2024
Introduction
The Labour Force Survey (LFS) was conducted in October and November 2024 to capture key labour statistics, including the unemployment rate and labour force participation. As this survey followed closely after the 2023 Census, a more condensed version of the LFS was conducted and focused on the most essential indicators.
The unemployment rate, which is 7.8%, has decreased drastically from 13.1% that resulted from the LFS in 2022.
The decrease in the unemployment rate comes amid the continued resurgence of the tourism sector on Curaçao. After a period of high unemployment rate caused first by many foreclosures and liquidations of companies, which was then followed by the COVID-19 pandemic, more people are now likely finding opportunities due to tourism driving growth in areas such as real estate, construction and hospitality as reported by De Centrale Bank van Curaçao and Sint Maarten (CBCS).

Welcome to the Labour Force Dashboard of the Central Bureau of Statistics Curaçao.
This dashboard presents key labour market indicators spanning the past decade, from 2014 to 2024. The dashboard includes data on the unemployment rate (total and by gender), economic status, labour force participation rate, and employment rate.

In 2024, Curaçao recorded 71,919 employed persons, the highest figure in the past decade. The unemployment rate decreased to 7.8%, down from 13.1% in 2022 and 19.1% in 2020.This trend follows a steady increase in employment after a dip during the pandemic years when the employed population dropped to 57,050 persons.
As illustrated in the graph beside, employment has shown an upward trend over the past four years, with nearly 15,000 additional persons entering the workforce between 2020 and 2024. This development points to sustained economic activity and reflects a gradual, yet consistent, recovery and growth in the labour market over past years.
