This publication analyzes the situation on the labor market for the non-institutional population (the population that is part of private households). Persons residing in institutional households (e.g. retirement homes, nursing homes, shelters, boarding schools, prisons) are not part of the non-institutional population.

The employed population consisted of 57050 persons per October 2020. This is a decrease of almost 4500 persons compared to October 2019. The number of job seekers remained practically the same at 13442 persons and the economically inactive population increased from 49715 to 54562 persons. The potential labor force (15 years and older) consisted for 46 percent of employed persons, for nearly 11 percent of unemployed persons and for almost 44 percent of economically inactive persons in October 2020. Hence, the unemployment rate reached 19.1 percent.
